Granite Tors Hiking

Hubby and I began the Granite Tors hike on Sunday. We only hiked about four of the fifteen total miles. It is very steep!! The plan is to return very early one morning in June and hike the whole thing!! Justin hiked the whole thing last year but I have yet to attempt it. Should be fun! We actually hiked across a creek that was still trying to unfreeze...the banks were solid sheets of ice! We saw LOTS of moose poop too!

Put to Work

The Wifey decided she wanted a new storm door with a rollaway screen at the top (obvious reasons). Ask and you shall recieve. We spent a few hours on Saturday picking out which one we wanted at Lowe's and installing it. It was a big improvement. I didnt really notice how bad the old one was until we put the new one on. Now the main door looks rediculous next to the nice new storm door so stay tuned for that. On the upside, the owners just dock the cost of any improvements we make off of our rent, so we our out nothing.

Not Forgotten!

Here is an update on Jake (the pet of ours that does not require constant supervision!). He is still growing as you can see by the photo. That is my watch thrown in there for scale. He had problems eating last week and elected not to do so at all. Although he really didnt seem too enthused about it, he did eat this week. I thought maybe it was do to the fact that he was in mid-shed and just might not feel like it (could have been the case), but in my research, I found that pythons will fast during certain seasons (i.e. mating season) even if captive their entire lives. It is engrained in their DNA. Pythons have been documented as having fasted for up to an entire year! Makes leaving him home for the month we'll be gone a little easier. Included is a photo of his current habitat...everyone in this house is spoiled!

The Queen has arrived

Molly has made it home. She actually fell asleep in Katie's lap on the way. After making her inspections of the house, it was time for some fine dining. Immediately upon getting her little belly full, she made quick friends with her duck. Finally making her way to her bed, she tested each toy one by one until she felt satisfied. She is a very curious pup and should be quite interesting.

Whats been going on lately?

Today Katie and I went and got some softball gear (bats, gloves, batting gloves, and about a half a dozen balls). Then we spent about 2 hours this afternoon takin some BP on one of the fields on post. This all sparked when I was talking with our neighbor the other day (he plays in a co-ed softball league). His team is a female short and he asked if Katie would be interested in playing. After todays practice, she says she may feel up to it. Thatll be a change of pace for me, being on the sidelines with Molly. We had fun and if she decides to play, it should be a good time. Other than that, here is what has been going on:

- Jeremy had a successful muscle biopsy done in which he tested negative for malignant hyperthermia. He may be gimping around for a while having had the tissue removed from his thigh, but Reese has determined she has a boo boo on her leg too and saw fit to band aid it.

- We get to bring Molly home on Wednesday. Katie is taking Thursday off to spend her first day at home with her. Lucky dog!

- Matt just purchased a new Glock 19. Welcome to the Glock family Matt.

Other than that, not much to it. Ballpark figure 868 days (at most!) left till hasta luego Army!
