Range

Me and Vanover (member of my squad) got registered to use the indoor shooting range at the Fish and Game Wildlife Center. Wow, this place is immaculate. This range is second to none. Registering was a breeze and we fired off a couple hundred rounds immediately after our range brief. Our ID cards will not be ready for about a week, but this place will be a new hotspot. My new toy fired like a champ, leaving a big hole in the center of the target. Hopefully we are able to find a weapon Katie likes to shoot. I think she'll enjoy this place.

New Toy

Here is the Glock 21 (.45) that I purchased today. It holds 13 in the magazine and one chambered. Came with two magazines, a speed loader, and a lockable case.

Four Day!!!

After our trip to the field, having missed President's Day, we have been given a four day weekend to recoup. Tomorrow I will be going to Sportsman's Warehouse to purchase a Glock 21 (.45) and (wifey permitting) a Remington 870 tactical 12 gauge shotgun. These should make hiking, camping, and kayaking a little less stressful this summer. Other than that, not much planned. I have to do some studying for a soldier of the month board that I have to attend on Tuesday. Katie has to go to Anchorage for the week on Monday, so we will probably just be hanging out.

Field Trip

Made it back from the field Monday evening. We got back to Fairbanks about 5pm and Katie came to pick me up when I called her about 6pm, thinking we would be done soon. Little did we know that our weapons turn in would be made 10 times harder than necessary and we didnt get home until after 10 o'clock. It did however provide Katie with the opportunity to see the Northern Lights while she waited. We havent seen much activity out of them this winter. As far as the field goes, it was good. It is nice to actually do some real training instead of just busy work. I recieved two personal critiques while in the shoothouse: 1) Not leaving enough targets for the rest of my team following behind me 2) Being too rough with the "non-combatant" dummies to get them on the floor. If they aren't going to understand english, defer to the universal language. Get put on the floor or get shot... decisions, decisions. The Platoon Sergeant said that both were positive. All in all, it was a good time. However, we were denied our free time in Anchorage so I did not get my Arby's. Cant win 'em all.

New Blog

Well, I have taken the lead from my brother-in-law and decided to create a blog! Here's the place to catch up with Justin and I and what we have going on in our exciting lives...that's sarcasm in case you were wondering! At the moment hubby is in Anchorage at Fort Richardson shootin some guns and sleeping in a tent...in other words, training. He is excited for Sunday because they are going to be let loose in Anchorage! His two stops...Arbys and Best Buy, two of the best places we are so deprived of here in Fairbanks. I am doing my usual stuff while hubby is gone...work, school, reading, watching boxed sets of Golden Girls. I am, however, eating things I can't usually eat when hubby is home...Chinese, Thai, hummas...yum.I am headed to bed for now...but let me leave you with this:
